Da-a-adddddd… you’ve heard the word and the tone and taken
in the accompanying eye-roll. You’ve wondered at your own sense of humor or
lack thereof. You’ve wondered what
happened to your witty repartee that you used to be able to come up with and
why its come down to this. But your kids
like it. They really do…
Or do they? Some have said that corny dad jokes are
designed to make our children want to leave the home, its evolutionary. I beg to differ. I believe that corny dad jokes are our way of
showing our kids its okay to be silly and have fun and try out the language in fun ways and let down your guard at home. What other purpose do these jokes serve?

Now I know I'm not the only one. I had plenty of silly jokes for my kids. Some I learned from my father who could be very silly when he wanted to be. I have fun now with my 3 year old granddaughter now that she's starting to understand silly jokes. Gotta have fun sometimes.

Those jokes get recycled from our own childhoods too. Did you get the elephant jokes in the US? Like "How do you know there's been an elephant in the fridge?" - "Footprints in the butter." Boom boom!
My late husband was always joking with the children.....a great practical joker he was.
Good post.
Yvonne.
When dads stop telling corny jokes, kids need to worry. Thanks for stopping by "begin...begin again". I enjoyed reading back through your A to Z offerings!
Glad you were not turned of by them Ron. I seemed to blame myself for your sense of humor. Love Dad
Yep you got this straight from your Corn Pops/Popcorn!

My dad love puns and corny jokes! I found you on Blogging A to Z!
My dad, even in his 80s loved a corny joke. My daughter alternately finds my jokes funny or lame. On the lame side of the ledger: What's blue and smells like red paint? Blue paint.
I loved my dad's corny jokes (still do). I think it's what gave me the humour I have today:)
My dad was a vault of corny jokes, and when he'd tell one, my brother & I would say "Corn...ball..." and roll our eyes. LOL
Maybe it's vanity on my part but I'm loving the fact that my oldest (9) has started to really get my jokes, especially when I use a play on words to make fun of my youngest (6). We conspire together to have a laugh and it's really rather special!
