Well, Saturday was a great day. We enjoyed the winter carnival here in Orillia, the weather even hinted at winter
for the day, so that was good. Bring on
the spring now. Pitchers and catchers
report to Spring Training this week and that always means spring to me. And baseball.
And hope. No predictions for “my”
Nationals this year, except to say that
third last year and one game below five hundred…I expect better this year.
Over the past several days I have been searching for some
inspiring dad related blogs and web sites.
Obviously when there are hundreds of millions of websites, this may take
a couple of more days to exhaustively search out! However, I would like to introduce you to a
few new ones to me that I have added to the links panel at the side of this
blog.
First up there is Dave
Ramsey’s site. Many of you have
heard Dave Ramsey on the radio doing his financial show. I think his advice is so needed in today’s
world. My wife and I have been following
a lot of what he suggests for the past fourteen months or so and are seeing the
rewards now of staying “gazelle-like”.
If you want to get a grip on budgeting, debt-reduction, investing, etc,
this is a great start.
Secondly, there is Family
Matters with their focus on grace-based parenting. This site has lots of inspirational posts.
Thirdly, Dr Kevin Leman…and
I will be saying more about him soon. In
fact, I will leak a little information here.
Lets just say, that Kevin Leman has been nice to Dads UnLimited and the
winner is you!
Fourthly, Kevin East’s blog from Following to Lead. He’s got information on being a leader and
importantly for me, on being a foster parent.
My wife and I have been fostering for nearly one year and it has been a
joy and life-changing phase of our lives.
Next, The Best
Daddy Ever…Inspiring you to be just what the title implies.
Lastly for today, DIYFather.com
. hundreds of reviews, articles, ideas, fun, games, stuff!

My late husband was wonderful dad. He always took an interest in what they were doing and was over the moon when he became a grandfather. Sadly he passed away 2 months later. I now have four grandchildren how he would have loved the,
Thanks for your visit the other day and the comment, mush appreciated.
Yvonne.
I like Dave Ramsey. I've watched his financial show and have one of his books. I've run across a few good dad blogs as well as some that are pretty obnoxious.
Funny story to relate. The other night a phone solicitor for Nissan called about selling service for our car. The guy who was calling was reading off our address and mistook the CA abbreviation for Carolina. I figured he was calling from out of the country so I asked. He said he was 18 and calling from Canada.
I asked, "Toronto?"
"No about an hour north," he said.
And I asked where?
"Orillia," he answered.
I said, "Home of the Highwayman Motel?"
He replied affirmatively.
The I added, "That's where Gordon Lightfoot is from isn't it."
"Who? I don't know him."
I guess young people don't know this classic singer anymore. And come to think of it I don't hear his music much anymore. Good memories in that music.
I'm going to write about Orillia on my Wrote By Rote blog for the A to Z Challenge. And for "T" I'm going to write about the Tu-Lane Truck Stop that used to be down below Kitchener.

We have a call center here in Orillia. I guess they must have a Nissan contract. That's great. Probably Gord gets played in Canada more than in the US, we've got rules for that...Canadian content, not Lightfoot specifically!
Orillia population is only around 30000 so that was pretty funny. Anyway, Gord comes back to Orillia to play every couple of years.
Thanks for stopping in!
And, thanks Yvonne for coming through, I know you make many stops per day, so I appreciate the comment here!
